Concentration check in

These works are in progress. I am not totally happy with them yet...we will see

Concentration statement:
The central idea and theme of my concentration is how theatre can shape the way we see the world, and for me I tend to see beauty in the dark aspects of a piece. No matter whether it is a play for a child or a play for an adult, all theater has some aspect of fear, weakness, death, some aspect of evil. This presence of evil creates a contrast and defining emotion within a piece and is also what makes it relatable. I primarily drew my works and then edited them in Photoshop, this hands on approach replicates the experience of creating a theatrical piece and the time that goes into those.

Weekly Challenge 8: Opposite

For this project of opposites i chose to give my polar opposite a good ole' college try.....it did not work. I do graphic design and animation primarily, every project we have had so far in my class i have found a way to swing it away from having to do photography. So this project rubbed me the wrong way. i spent over two hours tromping around outside, freezing my butt off, and for what? your answer? Nothing.

Silk Painting

This silk painting I created was of the Death Star , from ..now Disney's....Star Wars. I really didn't get to put the time I wanted to into this work because I was absent. However all in all I am pretty pleased with how it turned out. I believe I would receive a 5 on this art work.

5.A There is generally successful use of the elements of design applied to an investigation of 2-D design principles.
5.D The work may show successful engagement with experimentation and/or risk-taking in
some pieces.

5.C The work generally demonstrates imaginative ideas and effective manipulation of the
elements and principles of design.

5.B The work shows evidence of thoughtful decision making and intention.

Overall I am not a fan of silk painting because the lack of control I was able to get over the resist and how neat it is in the end or final product. I am proud of the colors and shading I was able to obtain, but the shapes were kind of subtle.

Something I am proud of

I pulled this together without really knowing what I was going for or where I wanted the work to end up. However I am very pleased with it. It is definitely true to me with its Graphic nature and use of shape.

weekly challenge 7

WHAT DOES THE FOX SAY??

Weekly Challenge 6

I thought this was very funny. I was messing around with minimalism and thought this perfectly described my week and the college research process. Who ever said it was easy being a senior lied.

I did this sketch in Graphite based off of Tim burton's Poem: VINCENT. I love the poem and Tim Burton, so this is and ode to him XD

Narative Art

For this artwork i was inspired by bansky, and decided to emulate him. I created a buddist Monk and put scorch marks around him on the brick wall. I really rather like my orriginal idea however i do not like the exicution. In creating this work i fully came to understand murphy's law and all its implications.

Weekly Challenge 3

For this Challenge I was given the topic of surreal landscape, which is no surprise to anyone who sits next to me in class, I was not happy about. I don't like nature, trees, rocks, dirt,..just no. So it wasn't till I put in some research that I found this could be super cool. There are so may amazing examples of surreal landscape out there...and they are soooooo trippy. So freshly inspired, I took to the canvas! Hazah!

Weekly Challenge 2

This Art work for my second weekly challenge was supposed to represent opposing emotions and tell a story through those. My story is that of conjoined twins, one of whom (the red) is overwhelmed with anger at the other's inability to listen while the other twin ( the blue) is calm because she has chosen to ignore the anger and try peace. I think I like how this turned out. I'm on a minimalist kick. I also like how where their butts are conjoined it is purple. :) Like a melding of the two twins.

Weekly Challenge 1

This work was inspired by my friend taz, who as anyone whos knows this foxy lady would agree is a BIG BIG feminist. Gotta love her. For this I did the weekly challenge of : Draw a cartoon of your day, and if you were sitting anywhere near me at lunch last week, this is EXACTLY what happened!

This work ties into my started works in dig 2, where I found a love of drawing clocks. Its weird right...but yeah.....clocks. I wanted through this peice to tye two aspects of my creative adventuring together. "ADVENTURE TIME!!!" by pulling on someonthing old and comphorting: Time peices, and something intemidating for me, as traditionally a cartoonist: Sketched hands.

                                                             "Time is in your hands?"

For my next summer work, charged by my triumph over the devil of skteched hands, I went about tackeling the dreaded human eye. I am very proud of my work here...more to come.
